"Wien", as the city of Vienna is called in German, is in fact the name of the river, silent and almost invisible, winding its path through the middle of the city. Vienna is one of the safest and most beautiful cities in the world, worth visiting and worth living in. | ![]()

The famous Cathedral "Stefansdom" in the inner city of Vienna is the center of middle-european catholicism.
It had to be reconstructed after the World War II having been devastated by a fire during the war. It is dedicated to the first martyr of Christendom: Saint Stephen (Stefan in German). The "Riesenrad" (gigantic wheel) in Vienna is a feat of engineering skill in the sphere of entertainment-technology and is attracting millions from all over the world since more than 100 years.
Papa
has now already spent almost as many years in Europe as in India.
No wonder that Austria has become for him
"die zweite Heimat" (the second mother-country).
However, even after so many years, for Papa, strongly supported by mummy,
India is the country of visions "already, but not yet".
Papa has never been for assimilation, but very much for integration!
This beautiful city of Vienna on the shores of Danube
has become for Papa a place of accomplishment:
Family, professional fulfillment and activities
in the sense of
integration
In 1997 Papa founded
together with Mr. Antony Puthenpurackal the Initiative for the promotion of austro-indian
understanding
(Initiative zur Förderung Österreichisch-Indischer Verständigung, IFÖIV) and is
ever since its chairman.
The IFÖIV is a service-oriented association and supports
social projects in Neyyattinkara,
Tiruvananthapuram district, in collaboration with
St. Clemens' parish in Simmering , Vienna and
with the Jesuit fathers and brothers at Neyyattinkara.
Balakairali is a school for Indian dances, music and languages,
singular in the
whole world in its conception.
It was founded in 1993 by Mr. Antony Puthenpurackal as a school for Malayalam,
later
developed in collaboration with the IFÖIV and other friends to its present form and
finally taken over by the IFÖIV.
As chairman of the IFÖIV
Papa is now in charge of the Balakairali in
close cooperation with Rev. Dr. Biji Chirathilathu.
Balakairali has in its rolls
children and youth from
all parts of India.
Balakairali is really international
because not only children and youth from India
but also from
India's neighbourhood and even from Europe, including naturally Austria, take classes in Balakairali.
